Spring Camporee - Trekking Cart
At this year's Spring Camporee, we will not be able to bring trailers back to the camping area. To aid in the transportation of troop gear and add a little fun to the event we are asking each Troop to build a "Trekking Cart" for the Camporee. These will be used not only to move gear, but will also be judged for design and appearance as well as being used in a cart race.
Trekking Carts are nothing new to Scouting, and any internet search will bring up some information on them. Historical carts used buggy wheels. Since these are in short supply these days we are suggesting using bicycle wheels. This is just one suggestion. Troops are free to come up with their own plans or use a variatiion of this one.
A sample cart has been built that was to have been shown at the February Roundtable. Unfortunately that event was cancelled due to a snow storm. The following link will take you to a photo album showing this cart and some of the details of it's construction.
